The primary purpose of the canteen – Forest Bites is to provide a healthy, appealing, enjoyable, balanced and affordable lunch and snack service to the students and faculty of the school.
As well as providing nutritious lunches, Forest Bites aims to give children the experience of shopping for themselves and many affordable counter lines are available each day.
OPERATION
The canteen is part of the P & C body and is run jointly by a sub-committee of parent volunteers and 2 paid Managers with the school's input.
We operate as an efficient business enterprise, choosing and pricing products and using parent volunteers to allow the canteen to operate in a profitable manner. All profits from Forest Bites are channeled back to the school via the P&C and used to improve school facilities and programs.
We rely on parent helpers to volunteer for daily operations and in the committee to keep our high standard of cleanliness and smooth operation. Helping in the canteen is a wonderful way to meet other parents and your children love seeing you around.
As well as the volunteers behind the counter there is an all-important team working hard behind the scenes to ensure that the canteen is stocked, roster is filled, accounts are in order and that canteen news is communicated to the school community.
