Year 6 students revelled in a unique outdoor, educational camping experience March this year at ‘The Basin’. Three days of camping in an authentic pristine, Australian environment, where students were guided by professionally trained instructors from Gibberagong Environmental Education Centre, implementing a myriad of outdoor activities never to be forgotten by the children!
Canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding, snorkelling, beach games and art, photography, fishing, bonfire nights were some of the many highlights!
On reflection, students mentioned the deeper understanding of Aboriginal heritage and culture they gained from the night hikes, learning about Aboriginal bushtucker, (quite the culinary delight according to some), and visiting Aboriginal middens and rock carvings, thousands of years old!
