Creating Stop Motion Videos in Year 1

Students in Year 1 have been learning about sound and how sound travels in their science unit and were challenged to incorporate this understanding into their stop motion video. Their goal was to create a video that showed sound moving from one character to another. Students worked in pairs or small groups to come up with a creative theme and design and painted a background set for their video. Next, they created their movie using the ‘Stop Motion’ app on the iPad. Students took over 200 photos of their characters or objects, overlayed sound and put the photos together to make them seem as though they are moving. The outcome was fabulous with students thoroughly enjoying the task and everyone succeeding with the challenge.
