What is a Parent and Citizens Association (P&C)?
The P&C Association is a school-based organisation with membership open to parents, teachers, students and interested citizens.
What does the P&C do?
- Promotes the interest of the school by bringing parents, citizens, students and teaching staff into close co-operation.
- Assists in providing facilities and equipment for the school and promoting the welfare of the students at the school.
- Encourages parent participation in extra-curriculum activities and other educational events in schools.
P&C meetings
Forestville P&C meetings are held on Monday evenings at 7.00pm, twice per term during the school year. Everyone is welcome to attend.
These meetings provide a forum for parents to discuss the school’s operation with the school’s Principal. Other School executive members and teachers often attend and provide an opportunity to meet in an informal, friendly atmosphere.
P&C activities
The P&C activities range across a number of areas but are mainly focused on:
- Fundraising activities
- Organising parent-school activities to promote the School community
- Operation and management of the Canteen – Sponsored by McGrath Forestville Real Estate
- Operation and management of the Training, Intermediate Stage and Concert Bands
- Co-ordination with Uniform supplier
Fundraising
One of the main functions of the P&C is to raise funds to help finance school needs that are currently under-resourced. The P&C’s funds have been used in recent years to provide -
- Furnishing of new STEAM hub
- Installation of Air Conditioning system throughout the entire school
- Funding of additional Learning Support staff
- Synthetic grass play areas
- Improvement of school grounds with play areas, planting and equipment
- New telephone / speaker system to improve communication within the school
- Purchase of Band instruments
- Supply of iPads and Notebook computers
- Additional interactive LCD panels
