Skills required for jobs of the future

The average 15 year old is predicted, throughout their lifetime, to have:

17 jobs over 5 different careers

Over one third of 15 year olds are not proficient in the skills they need for the future of work such as science, maths, technology, financial literacy and problem solving. 

Launched in 2015, the Foundation for Young Australians’ (FYA) New Work Order research series, has analysed how disruption to the world of work has significant implications for young Australians. To read more click here.

The New Work Order: Ensuring young Australians have skills and experience for the jobs of the future, not the past. 2015 Foundation for Young Australians

In the future, every occupation will undergo change. In addition to a higher level of emotional intelligence, eight key, transferrable enterprise skills our learners will need have been identified (The New Basics, 2016).

The key enterprise skills include:

      ➢ Communications

        ➢ Teamwork

      ➢ Financial literacy

      ➢ Digital literacy

      ➢ Critical thinking

The NSW Department of Education's Education for a Changing World project examines the strategic implications that advances in technology will have for education. You can read more about it here.
